On a scorching hot summer day, a thirsty crow flew all over the forest looking for water, his wings growing heavier with each passing hour. The sun blazed down mercilessly, and the crow had not had a single drop to drink since early morning. His throat felt dry as sand, and he was growing weaker and more desperate with every passing minute.
After searching for a very long time, flying from tree to tree and field to field, the crow finally spotted an old clay pot lying under a large tree. He flew down eagerly, his heart lifting with hope that he might find water inside. To his great relief, there was indeed some water in the pot - but only a little, sitting right at the very bottom.
The crow eagerly put his beak into the pot, but the water was much too low to reach. He tried again and again, stretching his neck as far as it would possibly go, straining with all his effort, but he simply could not reach it. The narrow, stubborn neck of the pot made it completely impossible.
Exhausted and disheartened, the crow briefly thought about giving up and flying away to search elsewhere. But he was a clever bird, and something inside him refused to stop trying just yet. He sat down beside the pot, catching his breath, and thought carefully and quietly about what he could possibly do.
Then, as he glanced around, he noticed some small pebbles scattered on the ground nearby. Suddenly, a clever idea lit up in his mind! One by one, patiently and carefully, he picked up the pebbles with his beak and dropped them into the pot with a soft plop.
As more and more pebbles fell into the pot, one after another, the water slowly but surely began to rise higher. The crow kept dropping pebbles patiently, never rushing, never losing hope, even as his beak grew tired from the effort.
Finally, after what felt like a very long time, the water rose high enough for the crow to reach it with ease. He dipped his beak in and drank the cool, refreshing water happily, gulp after gulp, before flying away with new energy, proud and delighted with his own clever idea.
